The new Central Sterile Supply facility at OSU Wexner Medical Center is the first freestanding sterile processing facility in Ohio. The facility reprocesses and sterilizes surgical instrumentation and allocates sterile supplies for Ohio Wexner hospitals and outpatient care centers throughout Central Ohio. The 62,000-square-foot building has the capacity to support the care for more than 48,000 surgical patients per year.
Challenges
The project took place during the onset and height of the initial COVID shutdowns affecting the nation. These obstacles created a multitude of lost time due to project closings for disinfecting and close-contact quarantining.
Outcome
The project was completed on time and within budget.
