Ohio State Outpatient Care New Albany, Wexner Medical Center
Location: Columbus, Ohio (New Albany)
Project Type: Healthcare
Contract: $15,400,000
Role: Design-Assist Electrical and Technology Subcontractor
General Contractor: Daimler
Completion: 2021
This was the first of Ohio State’s three community “Outpatient Care” centers. It consisted of 250,000 square feet of ambulatory surgery space and a medical office building on a new site.
Challenges
With extremely tight budget parameters in an inflationary environment, this project benefitted from Claypool Electric’s panelboard prefabrication process, in-wall assembly prefabrication and on-staff engineer, and from our on-staff engineer peer review of the design-development documents for constructability and cost-savings measures.
Outcome
Despite the pandemic occurring in the midst of the project and multiple delays to predecessor work, Claypool Electric completed the work on schedule.
There were approximately 100,000 man-hours worked and zero reportable accidents.
Highlights
- Claypool Electric proposed and helped design an alternative power distribution arrangement that saved The Ohio State University more than $1 million.
