Developed by Crawford Hoying, the 171,000-square-foot cold storage facility provides a crucial link in the regional logistics infrastructure. The facility uses a state-of-the-art refrigeration system with onboard power monitoring for energy efficiency. Claypool Electric provided the design-build expertise for the electrical service entrance to pre-packed electrical and refrigeration equipment.
Challenges
This project consisted of approximately 135,000 square feet of freezer space at roughly -11 degrees along with a 36,000-square-foot cold dock area that must be maintained to 32 degrees and contains 29 truck docks for loading/unloading of frozen goods. The cold environment had unique LED aisle lighting and power requirements.
Outcome
Underground electrical and overhead rough-in activities in the 55’ areas of the ceilings was performed over the fall of 2021. Construction of the facility was delayed over the winter due to weather. This project was completed in July, 2022.
