Central Ohio’s Largest Photovoltaic Solar Field Unveiled
Project installed by Claypool Electric and Dovetail Solar and Wind
Today, the Ohio National Guard unveiled a new photovoltaic solar field at the Major General Robert S. Beightler
Armory in Columbus, Ohio. The system was implemented by Claypool Electric in partnership with Dovetail Solar
and Wind. Dovetail designed and installed the 76 kilowatt (KW) solar system, which is now the largest solar
field in Central Ohio.
Dovetail has provided renewable energy installation solutions for over 15 years and completed over 175 projects
across Ohio. “This was a great project and the Ohio National Guard will immediately see the benefits of
investing in clean, renewable solar energy,” said Al Frasz, Vice President, Dovetail Solar and Wind. This
solar project is expected to save the Ohio National Guard more than 135,000 KW hours and $11,500 in its first
year.
"This solar project is an important reminder of how an initial investment in clean energy will save money and
lead to a cleaner economy," said Frasz. "Only if we create market certainty and reward innovation in clean
energy technologies, can we begin to develop the economy necessary to reduce our dependence on foreign oil,
create thousands of jobs and see projects like this all over Ohio."
"We are proud to be a partner with Dovetail and the Armory on this installation. Some projects just seem to
come together nicely, and this was one of those," said Greg Davis, President, Claypool Electric.
This project was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
